Guilherme Casarões is one of the founders of the Russia-Latin America Observatory (Ruslat). He holds a doctorate and master’s degree in Political Science from the University of São Paulo, a master’s degree in International Relations from the State University of Campinas (San Tiago Dantas Program), a specialization in History and Political Cultures from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais. He is an associate professor of Brazilian Studies at Florida International University. He was a Visiting Professor at Brown University (2024), a Visiting Fellow at Tel Aviv University (2011) and Brandeis University (2015), and a Visiting Associate at the University of Michigan (2019-2020). He is the coordinator of the Observatory of the Far-Right (OED). He has published research and articles in the areas of Brazilian Foreign Policy, the Far-Right and Religious Nationalism, Brazil-Middle East Relations, and International Relations Theory.
